Wait…stop the presses…retire the resolutions…drop your drive to choose a “Word for the Year.”
Unless…
You believe or truly, madly, deeply want to believe:
- You’re already enough.
- You matter just because you’re YOU – a perfectly imperfect oh-so-human being.
- You deserve love, belonging and respect starting with yourself…now…today not when you reach some arbitrary improvement goal or standard.
Then you’re ready to imagine what a bit “more,” or a bit “less,” or a bit “better” might look like for you this year.
As the esteemed psychologist Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
Sixty-in-Sixty: Coaching For A Cause!
Did it! Delivered 60 coaching sessions for free and raised over $3,100 for worthy causes. Not only did this project soften my entre to my 60’s, it reminded me that one is never too old to make a difference. Thanks to all of you who participated and supported this effort.
Because There is Not Enough Time
I used to think
That because life is short
I should do more be more
squeeze more
into each and every day.
I’d walk around with a stick ruler
with increasing numbers
as the measure of fullness.
But lately
I’ve sensed a different response
to a lack of time.
Felt in my bones
The singular worth
of each passing moment.
Perhaps the goal is not to spend this day
Power skiing atop an ocean of multi-tasking.
Maybe the idea is to swim slower
surer
dive deeper
and really look around.
There is a difference between
A life of width
and a life of depth.
