How we spend our days, of course, is how we spend our lives.
Being a leader in your own life means being honest with yourself about how you’re spending your time.
Here’s a simple (but not always easy) daily practice I’ve developed that helps me reflect on how my actions align with my values, goals, and purpose.
Am I: Creating, contributing, and cherishing?
- Am I spending more time consuming social media rather than creating quality content?
- Am I consistently consuming low quality snacks instead of creating nourishing dinners?
- Am I spending more time craving an outcome that’s out of my control versus contributing one of my strengths to a project or relationship now?
- Am I comparing myself to unrealistic standards or photoshopped versions of success and beauty or actively cherishing the people and privileges that surround me?
Asking ourselves to these questions on a daily, weekly, or even yearly basis can move us from passively experiencing our days to consciously walking step-by-step into the lives of our choosing.
So dear reader, tell me: What’s one thing you will create, contribute or cherish today?
