“Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
–Dolly Parton
This is my dear friend, Jennifer. Jennifer just secured a publisher for her book – a book she’s been working on for over 6 years. I’m so excited for her I could burst. So instead, I surprised her with a piece of confetti cake, a card, and an orchid. Because, I don’t know about you, but these days I’m thirsting for people and things to celebrate.
Life is short. And my middle-of-the-night worried brain tells me AI might make it shorter.
What to do?
We can celebrate now.
We can celebrate a team member or friend who is daring greatly as they learn a new skill.
We can celebrate our wins even when no one else notices them – like not letting the rain talk me out of my morning walk yesterday.
We can deliberately take time to notice and savor progress, as we talk back to the dastardly voice of perfection.
We can risk looking silly (as I surely did ) when I hopped on the dance floor with the mother of the groom at her oldest son’s wedding – feeling the contagion of her joy.
And as you no doubt have experienced – celebrating others feels great! In fact, there’s a word in Pali called mudita – it describes the joy we feel from other people’s good fortune, and it’s worth cultivating.
So, who and what can you celebrate today? You don’t even need cake (though I highly recommend it!).

PS: Stay tuned for an announcement on an exciting new offer! It will be worth celebrating!
